'When I Let Go of What I am, I Become What I Might Be' - Lao-Tzu

Keeping my finger cross (while lowering my hopes to avoid major fall of disappointment)

Valentine Malentine

its 14 Feb today, the so called "love-day".

Clicked on google doodle today and it led me to a search on Valentine's Day. Wiki's info on V Day was quite an interesting read (VD sounds oh-so-wrong on so many level though it may be relevant on this V Day!). What is interesting is that the European (excluding the Brits) and south Americans doesn't really buy the idea of a V Day coz they all have their own day to commemorate love. As for the Asian people, we are more receptive to the American celebration of a V Day. Of course in Arab continents, its forbidden to even celebrate it. My first impression after reading the info? Asians are more gullible to the marketing idea of an American dream. Blame in on Hollywood *tetiba*.

My facebook wall and tweeter timeline are full of 'celebrate-valentine-haram' messages since a few days ago. Truth be told, I only count the days and take note of the date to know when is pay day. Heh. Haven't been celebrating for a while now. Probably did masa zaman cintan cintun dulu. Kot. Tak ingat la... i didn't celebrate not because its haram or harus or christian-like or for whatever reason. I just don't see the need for it. Real flowers, I have already dispense with the need to receive one a long time ago. Just because laki aku bukan lelaki romantik I don't see the need to spend money on something that will wilt and die in a few days time and the final destination is a definite tong sampah. Membazir! Baik beli food ke, jam ke, baju ke, tak pun beli pampers budak2 lagi berpekdah.

As a couple we say I love you to each other every time before we end our tele con (telephone conversations between us can range from a minimum of 2 to at least 5-6 in a day from as short as 1 minute to as long as we want it to be). And i love you is a must before we have our last kiss before we drift off to la-la land. So everyday is like a valentine to us and it costs us nothing a minuscule phone bill thanks to unlimited data plan by selkom.

Tapi apa-apa pun the good thing about this 14 February 2012 is

Terrorist Religion

Just wanna share something which was posted by someone and appeared on my facebook wall:

**

I liked the answer of this Germaniun Muslim scholar when he was asked about terrorism and Islam : He said : Who started the first world war ? Muslims ? Who started the second world war ? Muslims ? Who killed about 20 millions of Aborigines in Australia ? Muslims ?? Who sent the nuclear bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ? Muslims ?? Who killed more than 100 millions of Indians in North America ? Muslims ?? Who killed more than 50 millions of Indians in south America ? Muslims ?? Who took about 180 millions of African people as slaves and 88% of them died and was thrown in Atlantic ocean ? Muslims ?? No , They weren't Muslims!!! First of all, You have to define terrorism properly... If a non-Muslim do something bad..it is crime. But if a Muslim commit same..he is terrorist... So first remove this double standard...then come to the point!!! , . . . . .

prejudice doesn't think. Thats the problem...

When I did my first degree, my housemate, a Christian African British, asked me why am I still a Muslim when Islam is clearly a terrorist religion. I can't recall what my answer was back then, this was wayyy in the late 90s - forgetfulness is a sign of maturity.. haha! but I was pretty sure that I told him that Islam is not about violence but peace and tranquility (or something to that effect). That question tho is easier to answer than the one asking about why some Muslims get drunk, some sleep around and others don't see the need to don the headscarf when Islam clearly prohibits such acts. I can't recall my answer (again!) but I think I anwered a long the line that all things that need to be done must be done with the sincerity of the heart. What happens between man and God is beyond the comprehension of all mankind. Who are we to judge others.

He seemed satisfied enough with my answers coz afterwards there was no more questions about religion but more on the food we Malaysians eat. He was particularly taken with our keropok ikan and serunding daging.

But yeah, as long as there are people being fed with ideas that the end justifies the means, killing infidels are a sure ticket to heaven, and I am holier than thou attitute, Islam will always be viewed the wrong way.

The way I see it, there is a definite need to separate culture and religion. Until then, we will face what we have always been faced with: Prejudice.

The World's Economy From An Untrained Clueless Economic Mind

US is in serious mounting debt that needs to be repaid.

China is slowing down but because the government wants it that way.

Greece and Portugal are bankrupt countries and are unable to repay loans.

Indonesia is doing exceptionally well. In fact one of the best.

Asian countries are doing much better generally compared to Europe except Japan who has highest debt.

Malaysia's local economic growth is growing healthily.
China is the main economic growth for Asia.

EURO zone may break up therefore may impact the whole world.

Malaysia ranked no 4 below Indonesia, Vietnam and India in terms of investment attractiveness. Not bad!

2012 will generally be a slow year but no recession in sight.

Good news even if its a slow one :-)

Tapi kalau dah jadi macam ni spek mommy sayang dikerjakan...

Nak kata apa pun tak boleh dah...

Soho Life

Just imagine this scenario:

You are in a cafe

alone

browsing the menu while waiting for someone ... or not.

and you have your lappy in front of you, with your work half done.

while you furiously typing away replying to that oh-so-urgent-do-or-die email on your tablet

while your smart phone sitting politely beside you retrieving comments to your status or comments to your comments on someone's wall on facebook or some mentions on your timeline in your twitter account

and while all these are happening and staring you in the face, you are busy listening to your favourite playlist on your ipod.

... and the world passes by without you even noticing.

I'm talking about myself right at this moment but hey, admit it, it sounds eerily familiar to you too. Right?

RIGHT?

what was world like before I honestly can't remember...

well... actually i do coz I will be cozily tucked in some corner reading my favourite book while the world passes me by*

Such is our lives...

Political Collateral Damage

I know election is just around the corner. Everyone is milking whatever mileage one can get. And newspapers are also seem to be taking sides but whatever reasons you may have or whatever intention that you have, why must innocent children be collateral damage in a political scuffle? How heartless can one be?

I can understand if housing residents are irritated with the haywire morning/evening traffic, a normal occurrence whenever there are educational facilities around. But come on, these are just kindergarten children. I would have endured the traffic if it means there are educational facilities for children around my housing area. But to give a reason of not wanting the housing area to be changed into a commercial one by having a kindie around, I went like huh? ooo kedai makan ambik parking areas sampai berpuluh2 tak apa pulak? Bila budak2 nak belajar, pandai pulak marah. What kind of mentality is this? Please la...

*one of those rare morning when I actually read the news and this is what i get... morning irritation. Huh!
